Bitget, a leading cryptocurrency exchange and web3 company, has partnered with blockchain security companies Slowarmist and Elliptic to release the 2025 anti-SCAM research report.
The report reveals that global crypto fraud losses surged to $4.6 billion in 2024, with Deepfark technology and social engineering emerging as the dominant tactics behind the high-value theft. The publication marks the official launch of Bitget’s Anti-Scam Month, a month-long initiative dedicated to security education and awareness of the entire ecosystem.
The report highlights how AI-powered scams can go beyond phishing emails to include fake Zoom calls, synthetic videos of public figures, and Trojan horses raced jobs. Among its important findings, the report identifies three major fraud categories: Depise, Social Engineering Schemes, Deepfake spoofing covered in Defi or NFT Branding, social engineering schemes, and Ponzi-style projects as the main causes of user loss. It also outlines how stolen funds are attracted attention through cross-chain bridges and obfuscation tools before reaching mixers and exchanges and complicating enforcement and recovery efforts.
Additional insights include case studies of major fraud cases in Hong Kong, an increase in the use of telegrams and X (Twitter) comments sections as phishing entry points, and the continued growth of professionally executed fraud rings that operate across borders.

Slowmist provided detailed forensic insights into fraud tactics, ranging from address addiction to recruitment trojans, and Elliptic examined the washing patterns of stolen cryptocurrency through cross-chain bridges and mixer platforms.
