California has partnered with leading crypto companies such as Coinbase and Ripple to explore Web3 applications to improve government efficiency. This new task force does not have any specific goals, but it is already filled with San Francisco.
Ostensibly, the goals for the California breakthrough project are virtually the same as those of Doge, a previously headed agency led by Elon Musk. However, several notable factors could make the group less popular with California voters.
Ripple, Coinbase and other crypto leaders will participate in government efforts
Crypto-friendly regulations are currently wiping out the country, and America’s biggest nation certainly participates in this trend. Last month alone, California voted to consolidate digital assets into state payments and property rights renewals on tokens, in addition to other victories.
Today, California’s breakthrough projects are partnering with Coinbase, Ripple and others to bring this vision to government efficiency.
“The Golden State is uniquely positioned to strategically implement technologies and practices that improve the lives of Californians, and to bring together the best and brightest for our nation to work.
So, what is your breakthrough project in California? Is California planning to team up with Coinbase, the main crypto exchange?
Essentially, it aims to become a Democratic-led Ersatz version of Elon Musk’s Doge, leveraging Web3 and blockchain technology to increase government efficiency.
Governor Newsom has been sympathy for such projects for months, but crypto companies like Coinbase and Ripple can help California make it happen.
Alongside the Web3-specific industry, other well-known high-tech companies like Anduril and Snap Inc., owners of Snapchat, have joined the initiative. After all, California is home to Silicon Valley and the US technology sector.
Newsom’s press release provided no specific commitments. They had planned to use public-private partnerships and collaboration to find government Web3/AI/blockchain applications.
Still, the new California task force has already met at Ripple’s San Francisco headquarters to explore this complex issue.
However, this initiative could face pushback, particularly given Doge’s widespread unpopularity. Moreover, Democrat voters may not appreciate California’s new relationship with Coinbase, which was previously close to President Trump.
When appropriate, the mayor of San Francisco had just partnered with Openai to explore government efficiency, attracting similar criticism.
It simply says that certain Democrat code relationships have been scrutinized in recent weeks. California has an ambitious vision with Coinbase and Ripple, but it’s not clear how the breakthrough initiative will be more successful than Doge
Hopefully, this task force will find a meaningful way to implement new use cases for Web3 in local governments.
