The LayerEdge (EDGEN) project has recently been subject to intense scrutiny from the user community following the controversial AirDrop campaign on Binance Alpha.
The complaints center around lack of transparency, unfair token distribution, and favorability towards vinance alpha users over early project supporters.
Layered Edge Airdrops labeled “Worst in History”
Layeredge (edgen) is a token built on a distributed network.. Take advantage of Bitcoin’s security layer to address blockchain scalability issues. The project was officially listed on Binance Spot through Jun’s Binance AlphaE 2, 2025.
Shortly after Layer Edge Airdrop was deployed, the user community expressed disappointment on the X platform. The post from Dcryptopioneer highlighted the harsh feelings that a considerable portion of users share.
The dissatisfaction didn’t stop there. Another X user, Bearearn, revealed that a 223-point Binance Alpha attendee received 1,111 Edgen tokens.
However, despite securing 500 referrals and creating numerous promotional posts for the project, it only received 875 tokens.
Similarly, account MR_CBILLIONAIRE highlighted that eligible Binance Alpha users received at least 1,111 Edgen tokens. At the same time, most real testers were assigned tokens less than 500 tokens.
This highlights the unfair airdrop token distribution that puts long-term contributors to the project. The community feels that it is being ignored and neglected by the Layer Edge team, especially as the project appears to prioritize Binance Alpha users over early supporters.
Binance Alpha: A controversial model for the Airdrop ecosystem
It’s not just the only layer edge, the only target of criticism. Binance Alpha’s operating model is also facing a major backlash. Binance Alpha employs an Alpha Point system to assess user activity and determine the eligibility of events such as initial DEX products (IDOs) and token airdrops.
However, the system has been criticized as costly and unfair for early users and the core project community, while encouraging unhealthy trading behaviour exclusively to “farm points.”
X’s post on Phunacen90 criticized the Binance Alpha model, claiming it would create inequality and undermine the community spirit of Defi space.
Other community members repeated this sentiment and noted that Binance Alpha participants received more tokens than those who “cultivated” the project.
This creates frustration and raises doubts about the transparency of projects that partner with Binanence Alpha, including layered edges.
This lack of transparency undermines user trust and raises questions about the long-term sustainability of the layer edge. In the increasingly competitive Defi market, if it fails to build community trust, it could spell out the “slow death” of any project.
Post-layer edges face a major rebound against the favors of Edgeen Airdrop.
