Gate, one of the world’s leading digital asset trading platforms, has further expanded its TradFi capabilities and expanded access to contracts for difference (CFDs) covering traditional financial assets such as gold, foreign exchange, stock indices, commodities, and popular stocks.
This feature, available in the Gate app, marks Gate’s expansion beyond crypto asset trading to traditional financial price-based products, further enhancing its multi-asset trading framework.
According to the platform, Gate TradFi contracts use USDx as margin and account denomination. USDx is neither a fiat currency nor a virtual currency, but is an internal unit of account used specifically for TradFi assets and is pegged 1:1 to USDT. When a user transfers USDT to their TradFi account, the balance will appear in USDx. The underlying asset value remains fully backed by USDT, with no manual conversion required and no additional exchange or storage fees.
In terms of trading mechanics, Gate TradFi contracts differ significantly from crypto perpetual futures contracts. TradFi products follow traditional financial market conventions, such as fixed trading sessions and market closures. Leverage is set to a fixed level and cannot be adjusted manually by the user.
Margin works based on a cross-margin model, where long and short positions in the same trading pair can be hedged based on position size. Profit and loss are calculated using counterparty prices, overnight lending fees apply during market closures, and the overall rules are in line with those of the mainstream CFD market.
In terms of commission and leverage settings, Gate TradFi contracts support up to 500x leverage for major instruments such as Forex and Indices, while equity CFDs support up to 5x leverage. In particular, Gate TradFi offers a significant fee advantage with fees as low as $0.018 per trade, giving users a relatively transparent and controllable trading cost structure.
From a system and risk management perspective, Gate TradFi utilizes the MT5 (MetaTrader 5) trading system, and account data and trading records are synchronized between the Gate app and the MT5 client. The platform employs a margin ratio-based clearing mechanism. When an account’s margin percentage drops below 50%, the system will initiate a forced liquidation process and gradually close related positions according to predefined rules to manage the overall risk exposure.
Additionally, Gate recently introduced TradFi campaigns. Eligible users who enroll in the program can receive up to 110 USDT in trial rewards, and once they complete a qualifying trade, they can unlock additional tiered incentives of up to 3,000 USDT to support their first TradFi trading experience.
The TradFi expansion extends Gate’s trading ecosystem to traditional financial asset price trading, giving users more options for price discovery, risk hedging, and trading decisions for multiple assets within a single platform. This product structure reflects a broader trend among crypto trading platforms to simplify cross-platform operations to some extent and adopt more mature financial market rules in product design and risk management.
As the boundaries between cryptocurrency markets and traditional financial markets continue to blur, the demand for multi-asset and cross-market trading is expected to grow further. The introduction of Gate TradFi marks an important step in the platform’s quest for a unified trading infrastructure, providing a new practical reference for incorporating different asset classes within a compliant framework.
